Prolific writer Frank Barbiere is the guest on this week's DPS. He has been involved in a couple of large Marvel crossovers, including his "monster Dirty Dozen" book, "Howling Commandos of SHIELD". He has had quite a cult following from his creator owned adventure book "Five Ghosts' over at Image, detailing the adventures of a thief with some interesting personality conflicts. But now he is telling a new kind of romance in "Violent Love", a tale of crime and love in the late 60s.

This episode kicks off with a Free Comic Book Day preview from artist JK Woodward of his new book "Star Trek:The Next Generation- Broken Mirror", which depicts a "Mirror, Mirror" universe representation of the Next Generation cast. Written by frequent collaborators Scott and David Tipton, the first issue is available free on May 6 at your local comic shop.

Then Wendi is joined by the creative team behind the much heralded DC comic "The Flintstones". Part of the recent Hanna Barbera line, this reimagining of Bedrock's famous family depicts the changing society of the paleolithic era- from the angst of the armadillo bowling ball to Fred and Barney's time in the war. It captures existential dilemmas in a surprising fashion for a cartoon comic. Writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Pugh discuss their new interpretation and style and how they got away with something so daring, as well as what Russell has in mind for his new Snaggletooth comic.
